Cathay Pacific plans A330 and A350 upgrades to both aircraft’s business class products. Cathay Pacific is undergoing a significant revamp of its business class offerings across both its Airbus A330 and A350 fleets. The airline plans on introducing a new regional business class on the A330. Cathay Pacific is also working on a comprehensive redesign for its long-haul A350 business class. Both initiatives focus on improving passenger comfort and enhancing on-board technology. Building on their new Aria Suites, the seat upgrades look to bring back Hog Kong as a major player in Asia. Following years of decline as a major hub, losing ground to Singapore, Cathay intends to make Hong Kong the best connection option. The A330’s update is already starting. However, major details of the A350 upgrade remain under wraps but promise to raise the standard for business class on long-haul flights.

New A330 Business Class
Cathay Pacific’s new regional business class on the Airbus A330 will feature a 1-2-1 seat configuration with life flat seats. The seats are designed with all-aisle access. Further, Cathay is adding larger in-flight entertainment screens with enhanced technology. This new setup focuses on creating a more competitive regional business product on shorter routes. These are routes where they compete with Singapore Airlines and other South East Asian airlines.

New A350 Business Class
Cathay Pacific is also planning a significant update to its A350 business class cabin. The new cabin will likely be a development on the Aria Suites found on their 777s. After positive feedback on the new Aria Suites, Cathay Pacific will likely develop a modified seat that will fit the A350 specifications. The airline aims to elevate their product to compete with other airlines that offer fully-enclosed suites. While specific details are not yet available, the update signals a commitment to improving long-haul flight experience.

Aria Suites
The Aria Suites are Cathay’s newest business class product. They fly on some 777 routes, and are fully enclosed suites. These will likely be the model from which the A350 business class seats will be developed. Cathay continues to upgrade their fleet after years of catching up after the COVID pandemic.

Conrado’s Thoughts
Cathay Pacific’s dual updates to its A330 and A350 business class cabins showcase the airline’s dedication to reclaim their place as one of the premier airlines in South East Asia. With a renewed focus on making Hong Kong a connecting destination, Cathay is also improving their lounge network there. The new A330 regional business class promises to offer a more competitive product with lie flat seats, while the anticipated A350 upgrade suggests a focus on standardizing long-haul travel with the Aria Suites model. Both updates reflect Cathay’s ongoing improvements, and I am excited to try out these new seats soon after they are launched.
