Review: Dublin to London in British Airways Club Europe

a plane parked at an airport

British Airways have moved to Terminal 2 at Dublin Airport which means they are co-located with Aer Lingus. This is a nice change, as T2 is far newer than T1 and a more pleasant experience.

I was wondering how and where they would fit in several flights per day, but it seems to have worked. It also means flights after 9am have access to the Aer Lingus lounge in that terminal.

Check-In and Lounge

Check-in is located in the middle of the terminal at desks previously used by something else. These don’t even have a baggage belt, so once you hand over your bag, it goes onto a cart and someone wheels it off to put onto a belt to send your bag into the bowels of the airport.

For once I was checking in a bag, so I got to see it in action, and it all works just fine. From there it was through Fast-Track Security and into the lounge. You can get coffee from the barista, so I went for a latte and found myself a Chia pot to snack on for first breakfast. There are also other foods available in the lounge such as sandwiches, biscuits and other things. Shortly, it was time to board.

Seat: Club Europe 1C

Today I was on one of the ex-BMI Airbus A319s, which still have their old BMI seats. I settled into 1C and waited for boarding to be over and done with.

A British Airways Flight

After the manual safety demonstration, it was time to head into the air. Given the short flight time, the crew were up and offering breakfast without much further ado. I took a continental option, as I am not a fan of airline egg.

It is a perfect light meal, including a croissant (which I slathered with jam) and yoghurt. That was all devoured in short order (it’s a short flight, after all) and we landed in London on time.

Overall Thoughts

British Airways is nothing if not consistent. I’m used to the service and the on board offering, so much so that it feels like coming home whenever I fly.

Knowing what to expect means I enjoy my flights and there was no lack of that on this one. For me, BA have a fine product within Europe and I keep sending my money their way because of it. Oh, and because of my frequent flyer status!

  1. Great review! To the best of your knowledge, if you are on an Aer Lingus reward flight within Europe booked through British Airways do you have access to the Aer Lingus lounge?

    1. Thank you! A BA frequent flyer flying Aer Lingus has no reciprocal privileges apart from one situation. Silver and Gold can access the Aer Lingus lounge in LHR T2 (all flights) and in DUB T2 (only flights to LHR). If you’re an Aer Lingus frequent flyer flying Aer Lingus, it’s a different story, of course.
