Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve written extensively about some amazing co-branded credit card offers from Marriott and Hilton. Now, the Business Platinum Card is out with a brand new welcome bonus offer which is rather unique compared to Amex’s credit card welcome bonuses.
Business Platinum Card Welcome Bonus
With this offer on the Business Platinum Card, you’ll earn a welcome bonus of 150,000 Membership Rewards points. You’ll earn the welcome bonus once you spend $20,000 in the first 3 months of card membership. The annual fee os $695 is not waived. You can read a full review of the card here.
In addition to points, you can also earn a $500 statement credit. You’ll earn a statement credit of $500 once you spend $2,500 on qualifying flights in the first 3 months. You must book these flights directly with an airline or with American Express travel. This offer expires on Jun 30, 2025.

Terms and Conditions
One interesting bit here is that Amex says you can earn one of both the offers, which is quite ambiguous. Needless to say, you won’t be eligible for the offer if you’ve had the card in the past.
You may not be eligible to receive a welcome offer if you have or have had this Card or previous versions of this Card. You also may not be eligible to receive a welcome offer based on various factors, such as your history with credit card balance transfers, your history as an American Express Card Member, the number of credit cards that you have opened and closed and other factors. If you are not eligible for a welcome offer, we will notify you prior to processing your application so you have the option to withdraw your application.
Eligible purchases to meet the $2,500 purchase requirement do NOT include flights purchased through any third-party, including third-party booking sites or travel agencies, charter or private jet flights, flights booked as part of a vacation or travel package, inflight purchases, gift cards, purchase of miles/points, and any other purchases made within airports such as retail, dining, and lounge charges. Any portion of Membership Rewards® points, credits or miles used to partially pay the airfare will not count towards the $2,500 purchase requirement. Eligible purchases of flights must total a minimum of $2,500, following conversion from a foreign currency. You can earn one or both of these offers. Eligible purchases can be made by the Basic Card Member and any Employee Card Members on a single Card account but Employee Card Members are not eligible for their own offer. Eligible purchases that you make towards the $2,500 purchase requirement will also count towards the $20,000 purchase requirement. In rare circumstances, you may need to pay down your balance during the billing cycle to help free up spending capacity to make purchases to meet the purchase requirements. It may take up to five days after payment for your spending capacity to be updated.
The Pundit’s Mantra
This is a fantastic welcome bonus offer if you’re easily able to meet the $20,000 in spend. If you’ve upcoming air travel, then the welcome bonus offer gives you a sweet $500 in discount, in addition to all the benefits, elite status and credits you will enjoy with the card.
Also, every now and then, American Express may directly target you with higher than usual welcome bonuses on the Business Platinum Card as well.
In addition to the welcome bonus of the Business Platinum card, you can also earn a welcome bonus of 100,000 Membership Rewards points on the Business Gold Card. You’ll also enjoy a 0% APR on purchases for the first 6 months of card membership.
