Takeoff To Travel

Hi everyone! The travel bug hit me at the age of eight on my first flight and ever since then I’ve loved planning vacations for my friends and family. I’m a recent college graduate who has a goal to try out new hotel chains and sample the many airline cabins out there. Having been both a city boy and living in the suburbs, I love traveling to all destinations both big and small.

Review: Admirals Club Denver

Heading to the Lounge: I headed to the Admirals Club Denver lounge before my flight from Denver to Los Angeles, review of the flight here! The lounge is located in Concourse A, a bit isolated from the main part of the concourse. Many lounges are stationed in this area, and the lounge actually doesn’t have its own bathroom! It’s shared with other lounges just right outside. I’d prefer if it was in the lounge. Thanks for Monkey Miles for taking me in as a guest 😀 Well is it a small lounge? Well yes, it’s quite a small lounge. As Monkey Miles...

Review: American Boeing 737 With Seatback IFE

Background: I needed a flight from Denver back to Los Angeles at night! American had a perfect late flight on a Boeing 737 at 8:05 PM which fit my schedule just right. And at $71, it was cheaper than Southwest’s 8 PM flight by about $30. In addition, I was happy to fly American as my Alaska MVP gets me a free bag, preferred seats and Main Cabin Extra at check-in! This sadly won’t be the case come the end of the year, as the partnership between Alaska and American is dwindling. 24 hours before my flight, I checked-in...

How to Rent A Car When You’re Under 21

Being 18 is great as a traveler! You can finally check into most hotels (outside of Vegas). But there’s still another issue: Rental Cars. Most major rental car companies don’t rent to drivers until they are 21 years old. And they charge hefty fees until you turn 25. Only in Michigan and New York state are rental car companies required to rent to 18 year olds, and they charge very high fees, sometimes higher than the actual daily rate of the car. On my last trip to Denver with my friends, I discovered the limitations 18 year old’s had...

Review: Maven Car Sharing

Background: My friends and I needed a car to drive around Colorado with! Problem is, we’re 18, and most car rentals won’t rent to us. I stumbled upon Maven which is sponsored by GM and decided to work with them! No application fees! There’s no application fees or monthly membership fees like Zipcar or other car share programs. Apply with a short application online (Name, Driver’s License), and you will be approved in about 2 days and good to go! This made it easy for me, as for Zipcar you would have to wait until the “Zipcard” is delivered to...

Hyatt House Colorado Springs Category 1 Redemption!

Background: I needed a place to stay to attend the miniBAcon conference for us bloggers in Colorado Springs! Rates in the city were quite hefty, and this Hyatt House was available for just 5,000 points as it is Category 1 on World of Hyatt! :O SUCH A GOOD REDEMPTION, given that rates were $200 a night!! Booked! 🙂 I used my dad’s Hyatt points, I just called up Hyatt before my stay to add my name to the reservation. This would be my first experience at a Hyatt House, and of course I was not expecting the Broadmoor...

Review: Best Southern California Resort

Background: The Resort at Pelican Hill is located in Newport Beach, California and was ranked as the top Southern California Resort on the Conde Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice Awards in 2013. In the 2016 edition, the Resort at Pelican Hill dropped to #3 for Southern California. As of now, it holds an AAA five diamond rating and five stars on Forbes Travel Guide. Don’t You Live In Orange County Though?! Yes! So, this was my first “staycation”. The idea of staying here came up on a weekend in which my family drove by the hotel. Dad asked, how much is...

Delta DID Give Me Free Comfort Plus!

Free Comfort Plus?! DO tell! Two days ago I posted that on the corner of seat selection it says “FREE” under Comfort Plus for my flight from Berlin to New York! But, it was too good to be true as Delta’s Twitter team said it was an error. It was funny that I couldn’t see upgrades to Comfort Plus on my New York to Los Angeles flight. I did take notice that 33 Comfort Plus seats were left on the seat map while the Main Cabin was full. Fast forward to the day of my flight, I landed in New York...

Delta Comfort Plus Showing Free At Check-In??

Delta’s Giving Free Comfort Plus?! DO TELL! Well, I was checking in for my flight tomorrow, and on the corner of seat selection it says “FREE” under Comfort Plus! I don’t have Medallion status, only Alaska MVP, and the partnership has ended so I was shocked to see that. Plus, even with MVP when the partnership was still going on I don’t think one got Comfort Plus at check-in. I did book early enough to still get Alaska miles on the other hand. Too good to be true right? Yes….In fact, when I hovered over to choose the Comfort...
