Airplane Inspiration: American Airlines 787

In order to keep everyone’s spirits up while most of us are stuck at home, I decided to start a new photography campaign. Airplane Inspiration will be a series of photographs published that showcase an airline/aircraft/airplanes from my photobank. Today’s airline inspiration is the American Airlines 787.

 

Location: LAX

American Airlines has been expanding in LAX, making the West Coast city their gateway to the Pacific. Most of their Hawaii flights depart from LAX, as do their flights to Sydney and most flights to Asia. American’s Flagship Dining at LAX is superb. With an excellent lounge system in the airport, American and their OneWorld partners really are the premium group in the airport. Now, if only they could improve on the Eagle’s Nest… 

 

Airline Snapshot:

Although I already made an Airline Snapshot on my previous American Airlines Airplane Inspiration post, I wanted to highlight the airline’s 787. American has focused its international fleet renewal on the 787. The airline currently flies the 787-8 and 787-9 variants. When American retired their 767s and 757s, most flights were picked up by the 787. As the airline moves forward, I expect them to replace some of their 777s with 787-9s. However, for some dense routes, American might opt to replace their 777-200ERs with a new order of 787-10s. That might be years away with the COVID19 crisis denting new aircraft orders.
