Airplane Inspiration: Air India 787

In order to keep everyone’s spirits up while most of us are stuck at home, I decided to start a new photography campaign. Airplane Inspiration will be a series of photographs published that showcase an airline/aircraft/airplanes from my photo bank. Today’s Airplane Inspiration is the Air India 787. 

 

Location: Tokyo Narita

I took this photo from the Qantas Business Class Lounge in Tokyo Narita. The aircraft had just arrived from its flight from Delhi. Tokyo Narita has a cool variety of airlines that visit the airport from all over the world. Tokyo’s more centric airport, Haneda, is starting to take away from Narita, as airlines prefer Haneda due to its closeness to the city. With major airlines moving their operations to Haneda, Narita will become less exciting as we move forward. 

 

Airline Spanshot

Air India is the flag carrier of the South Asian nation. The airline has been in a precarious financial situation for years now, currently under state ownership. Modi’s government (the leader of the parliamentary majority) has been looking to sell the airline, but they have been faced with an uphill battle. Tata Sons, owners of Vistara, and Singapore Airlines are likely to be the final suitors for the airline. The COVID19 crisis will likely lower the price of the sale, and probably put into question the assumption of all the debt.
