Airbnb Avios do post to British Airways Executive Club

For some reason I am quite dubious about Avios posting correctly sometimes. Especially when it is a new provider added to the mix, such as Airbnb. They recently became an earning partner in the British Airways Executive Club.

Not that I have any reason to worry though. One of the great things about the Executive Club is that everything generally works as it’s supposed to. So why was I worried?

Airbnb Avios

Recently I needed to book an Airbnb in my home city as I’m hosting some friends from University for a weekend. My own place is too small to accommodate them all, and we all enjoy sharing with each other.

The British Airways web site instructs you to book using their link. You need to make sure cookies are enabled and that’s really all there is to it. You click through and book and you’re done. There’s no notification on any receipt that you will get Avios though.

My booking cost €586.28 and the British Airways web site says the earning rate is 3 Avios per $1/€1/£1. The award is based on the USD value of the booking, which is $645.29 when converted.

2,471 Avios were awarded, which is correct. $645 x 3 is 1,935 plus you get 500 Avios for your first booking. It tallies up quite nicely and it was awarded within the 60 day window as well. Success all round!

Overall Thoughts

I’m not sure why the Airbnb Avios are based on the US dollar amount, when it says it’s 1 Avios per Euro, but it works out in my favour, so I’m not complaining. It is pleasing to see everything working as advertised.

Collecting miles on accommodation is not something that earns a lot of points. Clearly you can maximise this with providers such as Rocketmiles and Kaligo, which I have used to great benefit in the past, but my main earning is through flying. It all adds up though!

Have you booked using the British Airways link and earned Airbnb Avios? Thank you for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.
