I’ve been spoiled throughout the pandemic by British Airways. Anytime I have needed to swap flights for refund vouchers, it has been done pretty much easily and swiftly.

This was the case at Aer Lingus, where I received one voucher relatively fast. Now I am waiting on two more to come back and the delay is really quite frustrating.

Refund Vouchers Delayed

The sorry story begins when I booked flights to Scotland, using the €29.62 remaining on my voucher as part payment. There was a problem processing it online, so I was advised to call the airline. When I did, I was told they could not process transactions on the phone where a voucher was involved. Yes, really.

Anyway, I cancelled the booking at the end of February and over a month later, no word on my voucher. Next up, I had a flight booked for 12 April which I put in for a voucher on 15 March. Radio silence.

With no contact happening, I telephoned Aer Lingus to ask about my refund vouchers. Apparently the first one was pending and the second one… well, apparently the flight had not been cancelled and was still a live booking. Luckily I kept the e-mail from when I made the voucher request online.

I was asked to send in that e-mail as proof. Now I have three case numbers with the Irish airline and no voucher in sight. It’s frustrating because I would like to actually use the vouchers to book new flights. With prices going up every day, it’s not good.

Overall Thoughts

What next? Well, I’ll just have to sit tight, won’t I, as it’s not like I have much choice in the matter. No doubt the vouchers will come through, but until they do, they will be constantly on my mind.

Have you had any refund vouchers issued by Aer Lingus? Have you had to wait long? Thank you for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.
