Every now and then, we see elevated welcome bonuses offered by card issuers. Sometimes, they’re advertised public offers while other offers often need a bit of effort. This offer can be a YMMV based on whether it shows up for you. I was able to pull up these offers on the Business Gold card and the Business Platinum card, each offering a welcome bonus of 200,000 Membership Rewards points.

Business Gold Card

With this offer on the Business Gold card, you’ll earn a welcome bonus of 200,000 Membership Rewards points.

  • You’ll earn 200,000 Membership Rewards points after you spend $15,000 in the first 3 months of card membership
  • Moreover, you’ll also enjoy an intro APR of 0% for the first 6 months
  • The annual fee of $375 is not waived
  • You can choose a new card design now, which includes the newly launched White Gold Card design as well, in addition to the traditional Gold and Rose Gold

The Pundit’s Mantra

American Express Membership Rewards continues to be one of my favorite flexible points currencies. Firstly, you have access to a wide variety of airline parters. Moreover, Amex pools all points into a single account. If you have multiple cards that earn Amex points, then it’s really easy to use them.

Also, Amex frequently runs transfer bonuses, which gives you the opportunity to use fewer points for an upcoming trip. For example, I recently transferred points from Amex to Hilton. When Amex offered the 40% bonus, I was able to convert 179,000 Amex points into 500,000 Hilton Honors points for booking an upcoming trip. Without the transfer bonus, I would’ve paid 250,000 Amex points.

With 500,000 Hilton Honors points in your kitty, you can book a 5 night stay at an aspirational property like the Conrad Maldives.

If you travel frequently with Amex’s airline and hotel partners and qualify for these offers, then these welcome bonuses can go a long way in helping you achieve your next travel goal.
