After finding that the advertised Aristotle Onassis lounge did not exist, I was able to use the Goldair Handling lounge in Athens airport for my wait.
My flight was through AA.com on a BA flight flown by Finnair to and from Athens. (fascinating how international connections work).
These are the signs that show you which lounges are available at Athens airport.
Aegean for Singapore and United, Goldair for American, Emirates and Priority Pass, Skyserv for BA and Air China and Swissport for Qatar.

Check in:
This was the entrance. Not too busy so I got checked in quickly.
The Restroom facilities:
Across the hall were the restrooms, showers and a prayer room. This is a completely separate area which contains this lounge space too. Nice if you are waiting for your partner.
The prayer room. If you are Muslim this room is facing towards Mecca as the sign on the wall indicates.
This is a view into the restroom, and the door to the male shower. There is a specific code to enter that the desk will give you.
The lounge area:
This lounge is nice and large. There are different seating areas for different size groups of people. I sat at a single table at the end by the window.
This is the view from the other end. Really comfortable chairs.
The food choices:
Really tasty choices – mushroom orzo, rice, chicken and vegetables.
Pumpkin soup and crackers is always good.
There are sandwiches available if you need. There is a large variety such as egg plant, chicken, turkey, pulled pork and potato salad. A very tasty selection.
Deserts like lemon, chocolate, strawberry and profiteroles are yummy and waiting.
Varied drinks at hand:
Coffee machine available for drinks such as espresso and cappuccino.
Cookies, cake and percolated coffee is also at hand.
The alcohol is all self serve. There are all the spirit favorites as well as a lot of different bottles of wine to try.
The fridge contains beer, soft drinks and mixers. This is a lovely collection and will keep you happy for hours.
Checking out:
There are screens inside with all departing flights listed. These screens were at the check in/out desk as well.
Conclusion:
This is a really nice lounge to spend time in, one of the nicer Priority Pass lounges I have encountered worldwide. All the space in the world, a large variety of warm food available, and as much alcohol (especially wine) as you can drink.
Those are the keys to a happy wait.
