Pisa’s Sala VIP lounge handles all airlines serving Galilei International Airport. This means that if you have status or are flying business class out of Pisa, you will be using this facility.

The airport itself is quite compact so there is not a lot of walking between the check-in desks and the security screening check point. It is quite a pretty airport too and you can wait outside on the grass in the sun if you have a long time before your flight.

Once you go through security screening, it is a short walk to the lift which takes you up to the lounge.

Sala VIP Lounge Entrance

Arriving at the next level, there is a ramp leading to the doorway. A lighted sign proudly proclaiming all the airlines using the lounge is right next to the door.

When you enter there is a reception desk immediately in front of you and a pleasant attendant will let you in.

What struck me immediately is how nice and cool the lounge is. The air conditioning is very good which makes sense as Pisa is so warm.

Lounge Decor

There is a variety of seating available in the lounge, all of which is really quite comfortable. Device charging points are available at each lamp. There is a second socket there where you can charge your phone for example.

One part of the lounge is in a separate room which is also sunken a few steps lower than the rest of the lounge. The seating here is different, being more arm chairs and the like.

At the end of the room opposite the reception, there is a wardrobe and a cabinet full of bric-a-brac.

Everything is quite country styled as far as I’m concerned. It reminds me of a Delta SkyClub I once visited either Orlando or Fort Lauderdale – that sort of laid back Southern charm. In this case it’s European, of course!

Oh Yes, There Are Toilets!

Toilets are accessed by the reception desk and feature what appear to be three individual rooms. One is for men, one for women and one for disabled people or families.

In the disabled room there is an additional small toilet for children with fish all around it. Nice to see families so well catered for!

Sala VIP Lounge Catering

Across from the reception desk is a fridge containing a bunch of drinks and a large pot of olives. Some of the drinks I don’t recognise.

There is a decent assortment of alcoholic drinks as well, and all of these are self-service. I think anyone would find something they wanted.

Coffee is available and there are a selection of snacks available. Considering I was flying Qatar Airways business class on my next sector, I decided to skip the lounge food.

During my visit everything was being replenished. There is no space for anything else so I imagine this is the extent of the offering.

Overall Thoughts

As far as lounges in small airports go, the Sala VIP lounge is quite fine. The fact it is nice and cool and offers something to eat and drink in a clean and calm environment is all you really need. Wireless Internet is free and totally fine for web browsing. The facility is also clean and well kept, if somewhat dated.
