Review: Bridgewater Marriott New Jersey Concierge Level

Marriott Bridgewater

Background:

I had 2 Category 1-5 certificates and I wanted to put them to good use! The Bridgewater Marriott was a Category 5 property and it was convenient for my purpose of being in the middle of New York and Philly. Additionally, for my dates during Spring Break the hotel was going for $450 a night! Crazy…

The weekdays are always really expensive at this hotel for paid rates. Definitely geared for only business travelers.

MY OVERALL SCORE: 4

5: Excellent, Highly Recommend
4: Very Good, Solid Choice to Consider
3: Ok, Check Other Options Before Booking
2: Below Par, Try to Avoid
1: Terrible, Run Far Away

Quick Summary: The Bridgewater Marriott has a nice Concierge Lounge and clean rooms. The location is great, across the street from a nice mall.

Arrival:

The lobby was nice and renovated, and I was quickly checked in to my Concierge level room located on the 8th floor. There is a lobby bar and restaurant right next to the lobby, which was always crowded with business travelers at night.

The Room:

The room was a standard older designed Marriott room. Despite being a bit outdated, it was still very clean and the furnishings were in good condition.

Wi-Fi was standard and worked well. The only negative of the room would have to be the view of the freeway. I could hear cars passing all night, even on the top floor of the hotel. I would recommend getting a room not facing the freeway.

Since they didn’t have any 2 double rooms available, I opted for a King + Rollaway. The rollaway was okay; I’ve had worse. It’s no Westin Heavenly Bed Rollaway that’s for sure 🙂

The bathroom looked dated, but it was still in really good shape!

Concierge Lounge:

The concierge lounge is open 7 days a week, from 6:30am-10pm (7:30am on weekends). It serves Breakfast, Snacks, Appetizers and Dessert!

Concierge Lounge Hours

The lounge is nice and has good views of the area.

I checked in around 5, so they were actually bringing out appetizers! The day I visited they had chips and guac, chicken skewers and salad. During dessert hours, they have cookies and little mini cakes.

Appetizers in the Lounge

For breakfast, the first night I was there they had your typical lounge breakfast buffet with eggs, ham, cereals and pastries.

The Coolest Thing in Existence (As Far as Lounges Go):

SO, there’s this AMAZING machine in this concierge lounge, one that is foreign to me.

A make your own juice machine. YES! So how it works is that you put in the veggies and fruit you want plus some juices to create AMAZING fresh juices!

They even have recipes to follow, but I ended up making one by myself with cantaloupe, honeydew, carrots and ginger juice. THE COOLEST THING EVER!! Yummy and healthy. What more could you want!

Omelet Bar?!

On my second day of breakfast, I was surprised to see an omelet bar set up in the lounge! Apparently, they have the omelet bar in the lounge only twice a month, so I got lucky!

Service + Amenities

Service was sufficient, and there is an indoor pool and fitness center.

One annoying part about this hotel is that they charge $20 for self parking. But we are literally in suburbia!

Location:

The location is convenient as it is right off the freeway. Also, the Bridgewater Commons mall is just around the corner and has lots of food options (Cheesecake Factory, Seasons 52, etc). Also right across the street is a Shake Shack!

The Verdict:

Overall, the Bridgewater Marriott was a good place to use my Cat 1-5 certificates! The Concierge Lounge was nice and the rooms were comfortable.

Happy travels,
