Malaysia Airlines: Macabre contest asked about ‘bucket list’

Avatar

Following twin disasters, Malaysia Airlines last week launched – and apparently withdrew – a marketing contest in Australia and New Zealand to give away free airline tickets, Time.com tells us today. The problem?

The name of the competition was “My Ultimate Bucket List.”

To be eligible to win free tickets to Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian capital, the airline asked people to answer this question: “What and where would you like to tick off on your bucket list?,” Time reports, citing other media outlets such as the Daily Mail.

According to Time’s article, “The contest appears to have since been withdrawn, with the original competition link now leading to a 404 error page.”

Readers: Can you think of other unfortunate marketing contests from airlines or hotels?
