Hotel Review: A short stay at Le Méridien Cairo Airport

Le Méridien Cairo Airport is a five star hotel perfectly located for people with long transfers. There are a number of excellent features which make this hotel attractive for a stay in the Egyptian capital.

Featuring a pool, gym, various restaurants, a spacious lobby and decent rooms, it has everything one could want. I used the hotel as my base before a day at Giza to see the pyramids and I was not disappointed.

Meet and Assist

The hotel offers a meet and assist service for your arrival. I arrived in Terminal 1 with Iberia and as I got off the bus from the aircraft, a person holding a sign with my name on it was visible. It turns out that in Cairo all the meet and assist people can go to meet you before you even hit immigration or baggage claim.

My friendly representative took my Passport and asked me to remain where I was. Minutes later, he returned and we wandered through the diplomatic channel with my documents given a cursory look by an agent. From there, we waited for my luggage to be delivered, then it was outside to wait for the car to arrive which drove me around to the hotel. Flawless!

A room at Le Méridien Cairo Airport

On arrival at the property, I passed through a security check and sat down to be checked in. This did not take very long and then it was up to my room on the fourth floor.

This is a standard airport hotel, so it featured everything I would expect. Wireless Internet is decent, the beds are comfortable and I had a nice view to the Terminals.

The Bathroom

There was another robe in the bathroom and all the bits and pieces you could want. There is a rain shower or standard shower, plus everything is nice and clean.

The robe in the bathroom was different to the one in the wardrobe. Water pressure was great and the products were all very nice indeed. All as one would expect from this kind of hotel.

Room Service, Mini-Bar and Bar Food

I arrived after 10pm at Le Méridien Cairo Airport and had a tour booked for a 9am pickup the following morning. Handily there was a breakfast order door hanger, so I filled out a few things I wanted for a 7am delivery. Imagine my surprise when it was delivered and turned out to be an enormous amount of food! It was also extremely cheap at 550 Egyptian Pounds – €10 or A$17 or US$11 or £8.

The Mini-Bar had a decent selection of items, but I opted to have some sliders and creamed spinach in the bar when I returned after my tour. These were nice enough and while I waited I was given nuts to have. Another thing worth mentioning is that there are plenty of bottles of water in the room for you to have complimentary.

Overall Thoughts

All in all, I was very happy with my stay at Le Méridien Cairo Airport. Everyone I interacted with was lovely, helpful and polite, with delicious food, comfortable rooms and all of it was quite competitively priced.

When it was time to check-out, I went across the bridge to Terminal 3 and straight to check-in. Very handy indeed and a great option to have.
