Why you should get this card
I’ve written previously about how I’m not a Marriott loyalist but primarily stay a lot with Hilton, followed by Hyatt. However, I still find Marriott points extremely valuable. There are two compelling reasons why you should get this card, even if you don’t plan on staying at Marriott hotels.
- Marriott Night Hotel + Air packages: There are some excellent sweet spots to redeem Marriott points for a nights and flights package.
- Airline Partners: My favorite use of Marriott points is by using them to transfer to airlines like American, Alaska and JAL Mileage Bank. When you transfer 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points to most major airlines, you’ll earn 20,000 miles + a 5,000 mile bonus. Here’s the full list of airlines that partner with Marriott Bonvoy.
The Pundit’s Mantra
Even if you don’t aspire to book a lot of stays with Marriott, Marriott Bonvoy points are still valuable as airline miles. Since Alaska Airlines miles are tough to acquire, I frequently transfer my Marriott Bonvoy points to Alaska Airlines when I need to make a redemption.
