Earning lots of airline miles for a low price is always worth it, which is why this Irish Independent offer is a good one. It is great value earning 18,000 Avios for just €160.

This is probably one of the best Avios earning offers I have seen and it is easily the best one launched in Ireland. The Avios can be credited to any Avios programme too which is quite handy.

Irish Independent Offer

To take advantage of the offer, you need to go to the Reach Home Delivery web site here. There are three offers, two for the print version and one for the digital version of the Irish Independent.

The promotion is aimed at members of the Aer Lingus AerClub as it is ostensibly for Ireland. As long as you have an Irish address, you will earn 18,000 Avios on the digital edition. Those living abroad can also avail of the offer, however you will earn just 9,000 Avios.

How Does It Work?

While this offer has been around for more than a month, I wanted to make sure it all worked before writing about it. You buy your subscription online, which I did on 23 October. You immediately receive e-mails telling you how to access the Irish Independent digitally.

It took almost a month for my voucher to be sent out and it arrived in my e-mail on 21 November. Follow the instructions in the e-mail which direct you to the Avios web site where you enter your frequent flyer number and voucher code. That’s it, the Avios will credit within five days – mine arrived the very next day. Simple!

What Does 18,000 Avios Get You?

There are many ways to use these but I would bank them towards a reward flight in business class on Aer Lingus to somewhere like Chicago. This would cost you 50,000 Avios so these 18,000 get you a long way to your goal.

I also think using them for flight upgrades on British Airways is excellent value. For example, upgrade from World Traveller Plus to Club World for 20,000 Avios on many of the BA transatlantic routes.

Overall Thoughts

Ireland was a graveyard for collecting Avios for the most part, which is why I was delighted when Aer Lingus decided to use Avios for their frequent flyer currency. This Irish Independent offer is excellent.

Clearly if you live in Ireland and already read the paper, one of the 30,000 Avios offers for the print edition may be even better. Earning Avios through spend you would do anyway is the ideal way to collect.
