Background:

I needed a place to stay to attend the miniBAcon conference for us bloggers in Colorado Springs! Rates in the city were quite hefty, and this Hyatt House was available for just 5,000 points as it is Category 1 on World of Hyatt! :O

SUCH A GOOD REDEMPTION, given that rates were $200 a night!! Booked! 🙂 I used my dad’s Hyatt points, I just called up Hyatt before my stay to add my name to the reservation.

This would be my first experience at a Hyatt House, and of course I was not expecting the Broadmoor heh heh.

Plus, it is highly rated on TripAdvisor with a 4.5!

QUICK SUMMARY: Overall, the Hyatt House Colorado Springs is a great Category 1 redemption at only 5,000 points a night! Clean, large rooms and a decent free breakfast!

Arrival:

I arrived around 5 P.M. and there was some computer issues so it took maybe 10-15 minutes to check-in, but it wasn’t too bad. The guy who checked us in was nice and liked to crack some jokes haha. The lobby is quite small, with a small bar and 2 computers in the corner (mini-business center).

The Room:

It was funny they were out of traditional key card holders so I got a post-it note with my room number? Is this a Category 1 new policy? 😉 Hallway cleanliness could be improved as I saw some stains on the wall and floor. Maybe because most of the guests were kids soccer teams?

The room itself was quite decent! I had a “King Studio” and it was pretty large with a full size sofa bed. It also had a fully stocked kitchen! Additionally, my room even had a walk in closet? Not a bad 3 star hotel! The room itself was pretty clean. The bed was decent and I still got decent rest. My friend that got stuck on the couch said the sofabed was surprisingly comfortable for a 3 star hotel.

Service and Amenities:

They have a outdoor pool and a small fitness center if you need it! And there is free breakfast in the mornings. I was shocked they had a small create-your-own omelet station in the back! Better breakfast than I expected from a Hyatt House!

I ran into fellow bloggers Zach from Monkey Miles and Derek from AcCounting Your Points at breakfast! Looks like i made a good points redemption choice if other bloggers were staying there!

Location:

The hotel was right off the I-25. While not in the heart of Colorado Springs, as long as you have a car it should not be a problem. About 4 miles to downtown. Our room actually had a nice view of the mountains!

The Verdict:

Overall, if you have 5K points to use and the other hotels in Colorado Springs are expensive this is a good redemption!
