Intro

Not too long ago I made a trip down to Abu Dhabi and had a one night stay at the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel where I was fortunate enough to be upgraded into the Presidential Suite!

Booking

Since the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi is a Category 5 hotel, I was able to use the points plus cash rate of 10,000 points plus $125.  I also used one of my Diamond Suite Upgrades to reserve a suite for this stay.  Not bad considering the nightly rate for a suite at this hotel was $994.

Location (5/5)

The hotel is located on Saadiyat Island which is located on a stretch of environmentally protected white sand beach about 25 minutes from Abu Dhabi Airport.  Compared to the busy Waikiki atmosphere of the Dubai beach resorts, the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi is located outside of the city on a tranquil island away from all the crowds and noise.  The brilliant turquoise shores, fine sand beaches, and beautifully decorated rooms has made this one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at.

Check-In

When I checked in, I heard the best thing you ever want to here when you check-in to a hotel, especially at a 5-star hotel in the UAE. “I’m sorry sir, but I hope its alright with you, but we have upgraded you to the presidential suite.”  Huh?!  Oh sure, I guess that will have to do then.  I was a little confused because the hotel doesn’t even have the presidential suite listed on the website.

Considering the suite has a full sized grand piano and its own SWIMMING POOL, I can’t even begin to imagine what the nightly rate is for this suite.  I’m not sure why I was upgraded but it probably had to do with me being a diamond member, the hotel at full capacity, and me being there only one night.

Room (5/5)

Obviously this was the greatest room ever.  It was full of marble, leather, crystal chandeliers, and high quality furnishings.  There was a full sized kitchen, bar area, 10 person dining room table, living room, TV viewing area, an office, a mini library, huge bathroom with a sauna, multiple balconies, and of course a huge private pool area overlooking the Persian Gulf.

This suite was so large I was out of breath by the time I walked to the other end of it.

I’m not sure what the purpose of a grand piano in a suite on a beach was but hey, why not?  Only problem is now whenever I enter a hotel suite without a grand piano I shake my head with disgust.  Just kidding!  But really, where’s the piano?

The suite could easily hold a 15 to 20 person get together with plenty of room to spare.

The furniture was gorgeous and I wish I knew what kind of desk this was because it would look great in my house.

The bedroom was beautifully carpeted and had its own balcony.

Dividing the living room and bedroom was an interesting water fountain.

Probably the only place where you can swim in a pool with a grand piano 5 feet away.

Food (5/5)

Having only stayed one night, I can’t say much about all the various food options.  However, there were multiple eating venues located on site and the breakfast buffet is among the best I ever had.

After seeing this, I now refuse to eat honey unless it is straight off the honey comb.

Service (5/5)

Service was fast, friendly, and accommodating to any request I threw at them.  I had a very late departing flight and the hotel worked with me to allow me to stay in the room until it was time to head to the airport.

Beach Area (5/5)

Due to its location, the only people on the beach will most likely be guests.  You are sure to get a couple of chairs with an umbrella without a hassle. There is always a member of the staff on standby to provide towels or take food and drink orders.

  Conclusion

In conclusion, the is a perfect hotel for a beach getaway from the cold winter weather.  Not because I was upgraded to the Presidential Suite, but because of its location on a secluded island were it is easy to relax in luxurious peace and quiet.  If you haven’t toured the region yet or want to shop and party then, go to Dubai. However, if you want to recharge your batteries on beautiful white sand beaches in top notch luxury, then Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi is tough to beat.
