Review: Marriott Springhill Suites Toronto-Vaughan

Travel Gadget Reviews

I recently stayed at the Marriott Springhill Suites in Toronto-Vaughan.  I picked this hotel because it had great reviews and the rooms looked comfortable.  It seemed like a good place to rest up after a road trip.

Check In Experience

We arrived at the property well past midnight due to a few unplanned hiccups.  After a short wait, a front desk staff came out to assist with my reservations.  She was awesome and got us checked in quickly.

Midway through the check-in process, she thanked me for being a Marriott elite member and offered a welcome gift for each room.  It was late in the day and I didn’t expect it.  The welcome gift was neatly wrapped and it was a very nice touch.

A Word About the Elevators

Some reviewers had complained about the elevators, and they weren’t kidding.  There are only two elevators at the property.  These are slow elevators.  There are lots of people coming and going, so be prepared to wait.  And wait some more.  These elevators get full quickly, so don’t be surprised if you need to wait for the next one.

A Word about Complimentary Breakfast

Complimentary breakfast is always nice, but the breakfast area was like a zoo when I visited. Since we visited during the long weekend, it might even be busier than usual.  We wandered around for a bit before we got an available table.  The breakfast itself was okay — there’s not much to write home about.

In Summary

I’d give this hotel a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Between Marriott’s Springhill “Suites” and the IHG’s Staybridge “Suites”, I definitely prefer this property even if it’s without a kitchenette.  To be fair, whether a property has a kitchenette or not was never a deal-breaker for me.   This property is kept clean and refreshed, and I ended up having a very good and comfortable stay.

I would recommend this hotel if you need a place to stay in the area.
