Have you seen the new funny British Airways safety video?

Another year, another safety video at British Airways! The airline has decided to keep the funny theme from last years video intact in the new one that is coming out this month. Everyone I know who saw the previous video for the first time commented on how it was quite amusing, so it’s good to see they are sticking to the theme.

According to the press release, over 25 million people watched last year’s effort. The other good news is that donations to the British Airways charity Flying Start went up by 20%.

The New Funny Video

I am going to miss Gillian Anderson from last year’s video as I like her work. Instead, I get to admire people such as Joanna Lumley, Sir Michael Caine and David Walliams. The rest of the new people I have never seen before.

The “Director” from last year, Asim Chaudhry, is back again which provides a bit of continuity for passengers. As you can see, he is still up to his old tricks.

One of the gripes with last years video is that it was very long. Funny, sure but one of the longest ones around, clocking in somewhere around six minutes.

This resulted in cabin crew having to give the manual demonstration on some flights as there was not enough time. Apparently the powers that be have made a shorter version for the European flights, which can’t be a bad thing.

Overall Thoughts

Change is good and this one is an evolution rather than a revolution. When it comes to funny safety videos, I liked these three. Giving an airline a little personality with a quirky video that reflects the business is a good thing in my book.

What do you think of the new British Airways video? Have any other airlines videos been a stand out in your memory? Thank you for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.

  1. I think the BA preflight videos are the best ones out there.
BTW, it’s Sir Michael Caine, not Kane.

    1. They are pretty cool, I have to agree. I like the fact it’s increased the charity donations too, which I am sure is appreciated by the recipients. Fixed that error on Sir Michael Caine – total brain fart there. Appreciate the comment!
