Delta Testing Upgraded Sky Club Amenities

I just received an email from Delta Air Lines advising that they will be testing a host of upgraded amenities in select Sky Clubs from mid-February through April. These new options include:

-Pancakes and upgraded bagels for breakfast, sandwiches and hot soups mid–day, and hors d’oeuvres, antipasti and dessert choices in the evening

-Nourishing snack choices, including energy bars, fresh fruit, popcorn, nuts and smoothies

-Select complimentary services, including shoe shines, manicures and relaxing chair massages — perfect for a busy day of travel

-(Best news of all) Delta will immediately upgrade the current complimentary vodka offered across all Clubs to Finlandia® Vodka

Delta will be testing these new amenities in Atlanta (Gate A17 and Concourse F locations), Dallas–Fort Worth, Detroit (across from Gate A38), Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Miami, New York–LaGuardia (Terminal D location), Raleigh–Durham and Seattle. Travelers will also have the opportunity to complete surveys on what they like and dislike during the test. According to the email, the most popular options among travelers will be rolled out to all clubs as part of a product upgrade this summer.

MJ’s Take

Interesting options. Good to see Delta experimenting. Delta could not just stand still after rolling out the recently announced price increase for Sky Club membership, nor did I expect them to. I’ll be checking these out on my next Atlanta departure.

  1. These are great additions beyond the rabbit food they currently offer. I just wish they would bring back the mid shelf beers that used to be complimentary. Drinking a Budweiser or Miller is not my idea of getting my money out of membership.

It also seems to me that they should have given members two guest passes per month to use and beyond that charge the $29. In most cases, the people this upsets the most are business travelers who take their families on maybe 1-3 trips per year where a SkyClub would used by the entire family. Then you would appease the people complaining that the lounges are too crowded.
