Corendon Hotels have purchased a former KLM Boeing 747-400 and are moving it beside their Corendon Village Hotel in Badhoevedorp. It will be used by the hotel for an as yet unknown secret purpose.
Formerly registered PH-BFB and named City of Bangkok, the 29 year old aircraft is in the process of being moved by road to its new location beside Schiphol Airport. You can follow along on the Corendon Mission 747 blog if you wish.

After it’s final commercial flight, the aircraft flew to Rome to receive its new colours. Once painted, it was positioned back to Amsterdam for a visit to AELS, who removed all the recyclable components before handing it over to the hotel.
A Video Of The Move
Moving a 150 tonne Boeing 747-400 is no easy task. Planning and coordination has taken six months, but it has all come to fruition. There is a short two minute video below showing its move across a highway.
According to a newspaper report, it will become an experience centre and an as yet determined attraction. Considering how large the space will be, there are plenty of options available.
Overall Thoughts
This is not the first time a Boeing 747 has been given a new life post flight. At Stockholm’s Arlanda Airport, you can stay in the Jumbo Hostel, giving you the opportunity to overnight in the queen of the skies.
Others are in museums, such as the one at the Qantas Founders Museum in Longreach, Australia. You can also find one in the Museum of Flight in Seattle, as well as other places in the USA as well as as Iran, France, and South Africa to name but a few.
It will be interesting to see what Corendon Hotels do with theirs. What do you think of all of this? Thank you for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.
