A recent post from Row J at the Santana in Washington DC sparked an animated discussion about squeezing in concerts during business trips. Readers shared some great stories, so I wanted to share them here!

Both strategic planning and serendipity were common themes when it comes to fitting in a live music show during a hectic business trip.

One of my favorite stories came from road warrior James Allan Wilson, who scored tickets to one of his musical heart throbs Imogen Heap after a planned business dinner in New York City fell through. Wilson described it:

 “I took a subway, walked through bitter cold and slush and waited 45-minutes outside in line to see if any tickets were left. Small very intimate venue, was seated about 20-feet from Im “Small very intimate venue, was seated about 20-feet from Imogen (a most talented British musician) and her piano. Coolest performance ever!”

Traveler Michael Kilgore wears his Baby Boomer passions on his sleeve as he boasted of catching Loggins and Messina after work while in Los Angeles one year, as well seeing Fleetwood Mac twice in one week in Dallas and Omaha.

Seems buying a ticket worked out for him: in Omaha he was front row center!
