Amex Platinum Card bonus rumor, Chase Sapphire Reserve confusion and more as we recap some of the top stories from the week gone by.
As per a few Reddit reports, there are new data points showing brand new welcome bonuses. Usually with Amex, these test links show up before the actual bonus goes live. For now, this is still a rumor, but we could see an Amex Platinum Card bonus of as high as 185,000 Membership Rewards points very soon. Similar test links also showed up for the Amex Gold Card and some co-branded Delta SkyMiles credit cards.
Chase Sapphire Reserve Gets More ‘Coupon Book’ Treatment With New Restriction
Initially, there was some confusion about this one with reports indicating that Chase was not allowing cardmembers to use The Edit benefit credit on back to back hotel stays. This was primarily due to Chase page about the card which included specific language about it.

However, Chase reached out to us and told us that the langauge was added by error and that Chase doesn’t intend to make any changes to the benefit for now.

Emirates is doing away with a tiered mileage expiration policy tied to the member’s birthday. The changes will kick in from June 1, 2027. As per the new policy, your miles will expire after 3 years of inactivity. You can still keep your miles active by way of an Emirates or a partner flight. Once the new policy kicks in, your account should show the adjusted date.
