I’m heading off to Australia for Christmas and this time the airlines of choice are Lufthansa/SWISS for the European legs, and then Cathay Pacific for the Europe/Hong Kong/Australia portions. Who knew I would get to experience Cathay Pacific’s new business class? Not me!
My booking was made in February, which turned out to be very fortuitous. I locked in some excellent Christmas pricing before all fares rose sharply in response to the US President’s decision to have a war in the Middle East for no reason whatsoever.
Cathay Pacific’s New Business Class
The airline has named the product Aria Suites, and it is the latest seat from seat manufacturer Collins Aerospace. They call it the the “Elements” seat and other airlines such as Royal Jordanian, Starlux and Etihad also have it on their latest aircraft deliveries.
Some of the more upmarket airlines elect to customise the seat and as Cathay Pacific is one of those, it has done just that. There are specific finishes and design choices unique to the Hong Kong based carrier.
Months passed and all of a sudden I was notified of aircraft changes. Turns out on Frankfurt to Hong Kong I’ll have the new Aria Suites and the same on Sydney to Hong Kong. The other two flights will have the older product, so it’s the best of both worlds for me.
Overall Thoughts
I’m quite pleased to be trying Cathay Pacific’s new business class product. The latest and greatest should be an interesting comparison to when I flew Ethiopian Airlines in a decidedly older product.
Cathay is in the upper echelons of airlines worldwide and I’m looking forward to experiencing their business class again. Have you tried the new Aria Suites product? What do you think of it? Thank you for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.
