While American Express prepares to open two more member airport lounges at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Miami International Airport (MIA) later this year, Travel Update is here with an overview of the growing lounge network.

Currently, American Express runs three other Centurion Lounge locations including the newest one at New York’s LaGuardia airport that opened earlier this month (see photos). The other two are located in Las Vegas (LAS) and Dallas (DFW).

Who can get in?

If you haven’t heard about them yet, they’re free for American Express Platinum Card and Centurion members – and their immediate family (spouse and kids under age 18) or up to two travel companions. All other American Express cardholders can get in, but entry requires the purchase of a one-day pass for $50.

LGA location

At New York’s LGA, the lounge is located in Terminal B. Expect locally inspired seasonal food designed by Cédric Vongerichten, the top chef at Perry St in New York City, named one of Zagat’s top 30 emerging chefs under 30. The lounges are built with an eye toward productivity. Expect high-speed Wi-Fi along with power outlets near every seat so you don’t run out of juice and private noise-buffering work spaces.

Readers: What do you think about these new lounges? Think they can give the airline lounges a run for their money?
