Aer Lingus tweet an Aer Lingus vs Ryanair landing video… and Ryanair clap back!

Irish rivals Aer Lingus and Ryanair had a little fun with each other on Twitter yesterday. Carl Mullan created a short video of an Aer Lingus vs Ryanair landing for a bit of humour.

The social media team at Aer Lingus picked it up and tweeted it, captioning it, “True story”. Not to be outdone, Ryanair clapped back with a burn of their own.

Aer Lingus vs Ryanair on Twitter

Having flown both Irish airlines over the years, the video could be considered quite true. Aer Lingus generally do have more comfortable landings in their Airbus A320 aircraft. By comparison, Ryanair’s Boeing 737-800s do tend to feel like they’re being flown into the ground. Here’s the example.

Not to be outdone in the Aer Lingus vs Ryanair rivalry, the Ryanair social media team came back with a riposte of their own. Another helping of truth, right here.

As you can see, Aer Lingus appear to have three aircraft flying in Europe. Ryanair, on the other hand, and after counting the little yellow plane icons, seem to have over 120 flights in the air. Nice burn!

Overall Thoughts

Aer Lingus is, of course, a much smaller airline than Ryanair. However, it is true that Ryanair is flying a lot more aircraft at the moment, which is no doubt helped by having bases throughout Europe. Aer Lingus, on the other hand, has aircraft mainly based in Ireland, which is, for all intents and purposes, closed to aviation at the minute.

Either way, it’s nice to see the official Twitter accounts of both airlines having a bit of fun. It reminds me of the Aer Lingus vs Air New Zealand Twitter war from 2016.

What do you think of this? Are Aer Lingus landings better than Ryanair in your experience? Thank you for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.
