Today I went to united.com and noticed the below banner advertising 75K United miles for signing up for the Chase United Explorer Business Card. 75,000 miles is the highest offer I have ever seen for this card. This appeared without logging in so it leads me to believe this is not a targeted offer. So, hopefully it is available for everyone. However, when I switched browsers from Firefox to IE, the banner only offered 40K.
Nevertheless, this direct link pulled up the offer in both browsers. The offer ends 3/18 and hopefully the link still remains active until then.
Card Details:
- 75,000 United Miles after spending $5,000 in the first three months
- Annual fee waived first year then $95
- 2 United Club one-time passes each anniversary
- Free first checked bag
- Priority boarding
- Earn 2 miles for each $1 spent for United purchases and at restaurants, gas stations and office supply stores.
- Earn 1 mile per $1 spent on all other purchases
Note: “This new Cardmember bonus offer is not available to either (i) current Cardmembers of this business credit card, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of this business credit card who received a new Cardmember bonus for this business credit card within the last 24 months.”
75,000 United miles is a fantastic offer that provides many opportunities to book aspirational award flights. For instance, since United is a Star Alliance member, you can book business class flights on Lufthansa between the US and Europe for 70,000 miles. Other interesting award bookings include:
- Business Class on Ethiopian Airlines Between Europe and Africa for 55,000
- Business Class on South African Airways Between US and Africa for 80,000
- Business Class on Copa Airlines Between US and Northern South American (Peru) for 35,000
- Business Class on Thai Airways on Flights within Southeast Asia for 25,000
- Business Class on ANA or Air Japan Between Hawaii and Japan for 55,000
Unfortunately booking business class flights on Singapore Airlines is nearly impossible using United miles.
In conclusion, signing up for this card is a no brainier at this time since the offer is unusually high while not affecting your 5/24 Chase limit. Business cards do not affect the Chase 5/24 rule. Furthermore, as a Star Alliance member, United miles provide many global award redemptions on some quality partner airlines.
