Just yesterday, I published a list of credit card bonuses offering 100,000 points or more. Now, Chase has also upped the welcome bonus on another one of their cards, the United Club Infinite Card.

United Club Infinite Card

With this current welcome bonus, you’ll earn 100,000 bonus United miles after you spend $5,000 in the first 3 months. However, the card carries a hefty annual fee of $525. If you frequently fly United and visit United club lounges, then this card can more than make up for the annual fee.

Moreover, United lets you wipe out the annual fee on their co-branded credit cards if you choose to use your existing United miles. For example, for a $525 card, you’ll need 35,000 United miles in order to wipe out the annual fee. If you find the annual fee steep, here’s what you can do. You can get the card and then simply wipe out the fee using your miles or by transferring over Chase Ultimate Rewards points to United.

Fast-track to Status

If you’re looking to achieve elite status with United, then you can also earn extra PQPs (Premier Qualifying Points) with spend on your co-branded United Club Infinite Card. Starting January 1, 2022, you’ll earn an extra 500 PQPs for every $12,000 you spend each year on the card. You can earn a maximum of 4,000 PQPs in a calendar year.

If you’re falling short by a few PQPs to attain elite status, then you can spend your way to close the gap and attain status with your credit card spend.

United Club Lounge Access

If you look at all the personal co-branded United credit cards that Chase offers, then this factor is the primary differentiator with the United Club Infinite Card. As per the terms and conditions, you and your travel companions will get complimentary access to United club lounges and participating Star Alliance club lounges worldwide. These savings can really add up quickly if you fly United and their Star Alliance partners with friends and/or family.

The Pundit’s Mantra

Overall, despite the hefty annual fee, this card offers great value to United loyalists. Firstly, access to United Club lounges and select Star Alliance lounges is the main draw. Secondly, for heavy spenders, this card offers a pathway to elite status via credit card spend.

If you’re simply looking to earn miles and pay a lower annual fee, then you have another option. The United Explorer card is currently offering a welcome bonus of 60,000 miles. Moreover, the annual fee of $95 is also waived for the first year. Please note that Chase does enforce approval restrictions like their 5/24 rule on this card.
