I set out a goal to spend less than $100 USD in Ho Chi Minh City during my recent Vietnam trip. All my friends kept asking why I travel to South East Asia so much? I decided to vlog and make it entertaining for them but also educational. I was only there for 2 and a half days and I wanted to make the most of it with the limited time I had. Watch if I was able to spend less than $100 a day on lodging, food, activities, and transportation.
Final Thoughts
Ho Chi Minh City is a great tourist destination for budget and foodie travelers who want to explore a new city for cheap. I realized I could have spent less money if I wanted to be more frugal but I wanted some level of comfort and privacy during my short time there. That’s the beauty of traveling, you learn as you go and you’re better prepare for the next time you visit.
Wow. I thought he must mean $100 for the whole trip. Per day is no challenge. This must be a joke. You should do $100 challenge in London, paris, new York, Geneva. Then your article would be worth wasting time on.
Sorry for the misleading title. As I said in the article, I wanted some level of comfort and privacy. I did see hostels for $10-15 but I didn’t want to that route for visiting the country for the first time.
I think a lot people get by with less than $10 a day in Saigon…not sure how $100 is a challenge…
If you were living there long term I could see that. Being a first-time tourist there I was expecting to spend more than average due to trying to see everything hence why I try to limit myself to the $100. Thanks for the recommendation though. I might have to try a $50 challenge next time.
