I know I should probably title this post “The Not So Weekly Cruise Deal” given the dearth of appearances of late. The primary reason for that is pretty simple – I haven’t seen that much in the way of “deals” in my opinion. Further, I know I’ve mentioned to a few readers that I have a little something brewing with my cruise content, and that remains the case. It’s just taking a little longer than I’d expected. But on to the post.
Poking around the interweb yesterday, I came across something I thought was worth sharing if you happen to be in the market for a quick weekend warm-up between the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays this year.
If you are a 10 hours per day/4 days per week person, you could swing this with just burning 1 vacation day. Either way, it makes for an interesting long weekend getaway. The Key West port of call and the ship were especially attractive to me.
Ship: Carnival Victory
Low price: From $199
Click here for more details and current pricing. Notably, there are some attractive prices on other ships and itineraries around the same time, so shop around.

For those that travel with kids, or family, Norwegian is running a sale. For most sailings you can get the 3rd and 4th person free or half off. We booked a 7 night Mediterranean cruise from Barcelona yesterday on the Epic. We got a balcony cabin over the week of Thanksgiving for the four of us for $2,104. We’re paying with Barclay and Thank You points. So this will be a nice free vacation and the kids will probably only miss two days of school.
Also, that is an off peak time for American so round trip flights are only 40k points each. It conveniently begins and ends on a Sunday, so I’m using my Hilton HHonors 2 free weekend stays before and after the cruise. Who needs all that Turkey anyways?
My wife and I have done this Carnival cruise route on other ships. It’s actually a nice little cruise for a cheap price. It ends up being somewhat of a booze cruise on older ships but still fun. Key West is a nice port. They also sail back to Miami from Cozumel and you can usually see Cuba off in the distance. I find that the first week of December is usually a cheap time to go and not many kids on these cruises.
Yep, that time between the Thanksgiving and Christmas rushes can be a sweet spot for prices.
