I’m always interested in new data points in order get a sense of consumer preferences. The Covid-19 pandemic has definitely altered the preferences of many travelers. This survey provides great insight into the short term future of U.S travel in 2020 by answering a few basic questions. Where do Americans want to travel? What is their preferred mode of transport?

Chase could be expanding the 5/24 rule even further

Data points indicate that Chase denied a customer for a credit line increase citing 5/24 as the reason. However, other commenters also pointed out that Chase could well be applying this to auto loans as well.

Dubai reopens for travel, welcomes international travel

Dubai got the WTTC (World Travel & Tourism Council) Safe Travels stamp, which is awarded to destinations in the industry after they clear the required due diligence checks. It’s already welcoming its first set of international visitors from the UK. In addition, Dubai Tourism has launched an innovative marketing campaign to lure visitors back. The campaign slogan ‘We’re ready when you are’ looks to communicate the preparedness and safety as Dubai looks to assure tourists that it’s safe to travel there.

United warns it could lay off 36,000 U.S workers soon

United sent out notices to its employees to inform them about the impending layoffs. While the actual number of layoffs could be lower, it shines a light on the current fate of the aviation industry.

Whistleblower alleges TSA not doing enough to protect workers

An internal whistleblower has prompted the TSA to take action. The complaint alleges that the TSA wasn’t taking the necessary measures in order to protect its own workers from Covid-19.

Southwest aims to resume all international flights by 2021

In a video series titled ‘Ask Gary’, Southwest CEO Gary Kelly outlined the airline’s plans to restart flights in the immediate future to many of its international destinations.
