SWISS Economy and Premium Economy Improvements Announced Today

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is launching a revamped in-flight experience under their new “SWISS Senses” concept for long-haul Economy and Premium Economy Class passengers, starting this week, on March 5, 2025. This initiative enhances the airlines onboard product. The culinary and comfort aspects of air travel, integrating new meals, beverages, amenities are part of the improvements. Further, a fresh cabin design will create a multi-sensory experience.

SWISS Economy and Premium Economy Improvements Announced: Onboard Meals

The new services includes a welcome aperitif, with a Sbrinz cheese appetizer and an expanded meal selection. The meals will be served on modern black, reusable tableware. A broader beverage range now includes a Swiss red wine, Rivella (a popular Swiss soft drink), and more snacks available between meals. The pre-landing meal for longer flights has been upgraded and will be presented in a re-usable bento box or tray.

Enhanced Amenities

SWISS also is introducing the “Alpine Valley” signature fragrance, crafted for the airline by SWISS brand Soeder. The fragrance will have notes of larch, citrus, and herbs. It will be available in lavatories. Bedding items, such as pillows and blankets, made from recycled materials will be provided at every seat. This comes with upgraded headphones. These upgrades contribute to a better experience in economy. It is surprising to see an airline invest in their economy product.

The Upcoming SWISS A350

The SWISS Senses concept will soon extend to the new flagship A350 aircraft. When the aircraft comes online later this year, SWISS will incorporate  redesigned cabins and seats throughout the fleet. The seats are expected to be similar to the new Lufthansa Allegris seats. The updates will apply to Economy, Premium Economy, Business and First Class. Although the airline intends to upgrade the rest of their fleet, in the meanwhile it will be a very inconsistent experience depending on the aircraft.

Conrado’s Thoughts

SWISS’s “SWISS Senses” initiative is a significant investment in improving the economy class experience. It brings together Swiss culture, improved onboard experiences, and some sustainability options. SWISS is elevating their long haul economy travel with the upgraded amenities, meals, and services. This is a welcome change, as the “race to the bottom” in economy class has only accelerated. I’m excited to try out the new “SWISS Senses” in all their cabin classes.
