WASHINGTON D.C. – Washington’s very un-Washington-like W hotel is revamping its chic POV rooftop terrace bar that touts some of the best city views in town, the Washington Business Journal reports.
We’ll have to wait until September to see the bar’s new look, but I already know I’ll go back.

The bar often hosts celebrities and often has dozens of people lined up behind velvet ropes awaiting entry. But its views in many peoples’ opinions are the reason to go. From the terrace, you can see the “backyard” of the White House, especially in the fall once the leaves fall.
One time a few years ago, I – along with virtually everyone else sitting or standing on the terrace – stopped what we were doing to stare at Marine One as it descended on the lawn. Another time years ago, I recall people on the terrace pointing out to each other the spot in the yard where you could see the Obamas’ daughter’s swing set.
The only other hotel in Washington with arguably better White House views is the luxury Hay-Adams, which has spectacular views of the iconic front of the White House; the problem there, however, is that the best place to take photos of the White House is from the Hay-Adams’ glass-enclosed rooftop catering space that’s off-limits to most people.
The splashy W’s located between the Willard InterContinental Hotel and the U.S. Treasury building. Due to its proximity to the White House, the Secret Service watches the space closely.
