Royal Jordanian launch a new loyalty programme, Royal Club

Royal Jordanian has scrapped its Royal Plus programme and replaced it with a new proposition called Royal Club. It has a more Jordanian flavour than the previous programme and promises more generous earning.

The airline is improving their customer proposition across the board. There is a weekly Friday sale that has proven to be quite successful and the carrier is making more money.

Royal Club

As a member of the oneworld alliance, Royal Jordanian’s new Royal Club tiers each have an alliance equivalent. The new tiers are named Bronze Sunbird, Silver Jay, Gold Sparrow and Platinum Hawk. The birds names also feature on the card designs.

Bronze Sunbird is the entry level in the programme, while Silver Jay, Gold Sparrow and Platinum Hawk are the equivalent to oneworld Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. There is a handy chart showing the qualification levels for each tier. From what I can gather, if you achieve Platinum Hawk, you receive this level for two years, rather than one. Qualifying again is also not discounted however you do have more time to do it. Benefits are very similar to other carriers in the alliance. Notable is that Silver Jay passengers can swap 1,500 miles for lounge access, while Gold Sparrow receive one complimentary upgrade to Crown Class each year. Overall Thoughts

There are additional benefits to the programme. People may now donate miles to the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center, which is a nice option. You can also transfer miles to other people’s accounts, buy extra miles, and have family accounts.

All of this brings the Royal Jordanian proposition to a world class standard. oneworld is a great alliance to have high status in, thanks to the world class portfolio of airlines, and this should hopefully bring in more Jordanian members.
