PHOENIX – As he plopped his luggage beside me at a tiny charging station at the Phoenix airport earlier today and plugged in his laptop, road warrior Kelley Hammel made what is likely a common complaint here.
“Everyone’s huddling around the power outlets down the concourse,” said Hammel, who’s livess in the Denver area. We were both in Phoenix catching a connection for a US Airways flight – he to Hawaii, and me to Vegas.
The small charging station – next to the Peet’s coffee shop – provided two tiny seats and counter tops for two people; additional outlets on the other side of the seats allow additional people like Hammel to plug in and perhaps sit on the floor. (I occupied one of the tiny seats.)
Hammel flies US Airways and Southwest Airlines most, and said that he finds more outlets that are typically located in convenient spaces in Southwest terminals.
