Prince Plays the #ATL: Plane Makes Emergency Landing

Last night was a twice in a lifetime experience for me. It was the second time I’ve seen Prince in concert. The first was several years ago at The Verizon Center in Washington, DC. That was an awesome show, but a traditional concert. Prince’s band was tight, but I specifically remember Maceo Parker and Candy Dulfer playing saxophone. I witnessed all that from the nosebleed section.

Last night in Atlanta, I experienced a far different kind of concert. Prince brought his Piano & A Microphone tour to Atlanta’s Fox Theatre…… and he put on another awesome show….actually, it was better than awesome. Smaller and more intimate, the show was just what the title implied – Prince, a piano, and a microphone. Prince played some old stuff, some new stuff, and even managed to work in the Charlie Brown theme song into Little Red Corvette and make it sound awesome.

However, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution is out with some breaking news. Apparently, Prince’s private plane made an emergency landing in Moline, Illinois very early this morning while enroute from Atlanta to Prince’s home in Minnesota. According to the AJC:

The latest: “According to our sources, Prince’s private plane made an unscheduled landing at Quad City International Airport in Moline just after 1 AM. The singer was immediately transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.”

Details are sketchy…..and conflicting. I wish Prince well, and look forward to another amazing show sometime in the future.
