Hotel Review: Off Strip Luxury At the M Resort Las Vegas

Background:

I’ve stayed at the M many times, and they are consistent in providing a nice solid 4.5 star experience. They have a special for Southern California Residents for 30% off the Best Available Rate, which often knocks the price per night under $100, even on some weekends a rarity in Vegas for 4.5 star luxury. Plus, the M does not charge a resort fee unlike most Las Vegas properties.

Short Review With Scores (Out of 5, 5 being the best):

My Overall Score: 5

5: Excellent, Highly Recommend
4: Very Good, Solid Choice to Consider
3: OK, Check other options before booking
2: Below Par, Try to Avoid
1: Terrible, Run far away

Rooms: 4.5/5
Service: 4/5
Location: 4/5 (depends if you have a car)
Amenities: 4/5
Cleanliness: 4.5/5
Sleep Quality: 4.5/5

Lobby

The self parking garage is located on one end of the property, away from the check-in. From the parking garage, you have to walk through the casino to the lobby. Compared to most Vegas casinos, the smoke level is pretty low, and since the hotel is a “boutique” the walk is actually not long as the hotel isn’t that big (for Vegas standards). If you don’t want to talk through the casino to the lobby and room elevators, you can park at the parking lot near the lobby/entrance off Las Vegas Blvd.

For my recent summer stay, check-in was quick and there wasn’t a long line at 3 PM. The lobby at the M Resort is nice and grand but I do think they don’t have enough chairs/sofas to sit and wait in.

The Room:

The rooms are a nice size clocking in at 550 square feet. Feels pretty roomy. I like the furnishings and the room is kept up very nicely. The room we got for this trip was very clean, and the sheets seems recently changed (felt really new!). The beds are pretty comfortable and the rooms are quite quiet.

The tech in the room is pretty cool. All the shades are controlled automatically, and there is a TV in the bathroom.

The bathroom is really nice with double sinks and separate shower and tub. Quite roomy!

The room we got this time is a “Mountain View Room” and the view is of the parking lot and well the mountain behind the hotel. Sometimes we get a “Strip View Room” which has a view of the pool and a (tiny) view of the Las Vegas Strip.

Service/Amenities:

The service is pretty good as the front desk is nice and professional and housekeeping greeting you every morning! Amenity wise, the pool is decently sized and Spa Mio is here for all your spa treatments. Of course there’s a casino, and multiple restaurants. I’ve tried Jayde Fuzion back when Seonkyoung Longest (who won Food Network’s Restaurant Express) was the head chef, and it was pretty good but they got rid of her a couple years back and changed the menu.

I have tried Studio B Buffet which I actually don’t like because the food is quite salty and just not that tasty. But Yelp seems to disagree with me lol. I think people like it because alcohol is included for free. Other than these, there’s an Italian Restaurant, Deli, Pastry shop called Baby Cakes (which is pretty yummy!) and Steakhouse.

There’s also a bar on the top floor of the hotel overlooking the Strip.

The M Resort also offers a shuttle service to the airport (11x there and back daily) and to the strip (5x there and back daily).

Location:

I personally like the location, away from the hustle and bustle of the Strip. But for many who don’t have cars, it might be a stretch to stay here. It is about 10 miles south of  the south end of the strip (Mandalay Bay).

First hotel you see before entering the Vegas area if you’re coming from SoCal 🙂

The Verdict:

I love the M Resort, and it’s a nice place to relax and enjoy simple relaxation in Vegas. Of course sometimes I feel the need to stay at a mega-resort on the strip such as Wynn/Encore, Venetian (which I haven’t in a while but might soon…) but the M provides a nice getaway, for a great price.

  1. stayed there on comp in 2018… i really liked the place, esp. its buffet at that time; other than the bacchanal at caesar’s then,to me, i ranked its buffet quality & variety the 2nd best
