Aw, Bummer. I’m Losing A Very Useful Hyatt Perk.

a restaurant with tables and chairs

Hyatt Globalist has been my hotel status of choice for the past few years. I get good value out of it, from the breakfast benefits and waived fees, to the additional free nights and certificates earned along the way to qualification.

It’s the latter part, however, that came back to bite me this year. I completely forgot that one of my favorite World of Hyatt benefits isn’t actually a Globalist benefit.

Reminder: Milestone Rewards Are Not Tied to Status Tier

When Hyatt decided to reduce their qualification requirements for 2021, I stopped well short of the normal 60-night requirement. I realized that in doing so I would be giving up a Category 1-7 free night certificate and four suite night awards. While tempting, I decided trying to earn these from strictly credit card spend was more trouble than it was worth.

What I forgot is that the My Hyatt Concierge is a milestone reward for 60 nights, not a perk of being a Globalist.

I fired off a quick email to my concierge, as I often do when I have any sort of issue. She has been fantastic, and email is worlds better than having to pick up the phone for everything. She looked into my issue, as always, but then informed me that as of February 28, I no longer had a concierge. I’d have to call the Globalist line in the future.

Sigh.

Final Thoughts

While I’m still satisfied with my choice to not spend on my Hyatt Visa to hit 60 elite nights, I didn’t think I’d miss this perk that much. But given the number of times I’ve had her handle things, this is a real loss. She has saved me hours of time over the year, checking room availability, attaching suite night awards, and making complex reservations.

I’m on my own for 2022, I see. Maybe next year. I do hope I can ask for the same concierge back.

Does anyone else really like having the My Hyatt Concierge benefit? I can’t be the only one.

D’oh–ouch! Sorry you lost your concierge-that hurts. I know I advised a couple of friends who hit Globalist light last year to stretch and get Globalist60 just for the concierge benefit, much less the cert, etc. Currently, it’s definitely worth it to me to spend/stay enough to reach 60 nights. If/when I jump off the status merry go round in the future, I’ll rethink it but for now hitting (real) Globalist remains a priority for me in my points/miles game.

Cert + concierge + more suite night awards makes 60 nights really worth it. I was at ~44, so it ended up being way too much of a stretch
