British Airways are changing their Club Europe catering once again. This means there will be a change for those passengers flying in business class within Europe. The new catering is expected to debut on 12 September 2018 and pictures of what is coming up have leaked.
It has been almost 18 months since the last catering changes came in at the end of March 2017. Some changes are excellent and some appear to be a bit of a downgrade, so let’s take a look at the story so far.
A Summary Of Changes
Meal service will continue to be on a single tray. The difference is the wine glass will be provided on the tray also, rather than being given to you when you request your drink.
Ice will be on request and all drinks can be served in the wine glass provided. This is presumably to cut down on different types of glassware.
Happily – as you may notice from the clotted cream pot in the picture above – the scones are coming back! Afternoon tea flights are those between 14:00 and 16:59 on shorter routes and you can see from this review that I really love the scones. That’s a win for me!
More Leaked Club Europe Catering Pictures
When the catering changed in 2017, the flights were classified as Short, Medium and Long for catering purposes. Before that, and once again, they will be divided into four bands, with one being the shortest flights (such as London to Dublin) and four being the longest flights (such as London to Athens).
Two More Leaked Pictures
There are two more pictures that were kindly leaked by someone in the know. Both of them look quite okay as far as I am concerned, even if the angles are terrible!
Overall Thoughts
As the leaked pictures show, British Airways is simplifying the service. Having to produce only one main plate per passenger is going to save time in service along with the weight of the additional plates.
My favourite meal on board were the scones at afternoon tea, so I am beyond delighted they are coming back. It feels so very British to be sitting there drinking Champagne while eating your scones with jam and cream.
