I wrote previously about how much I enjoy staying at the JW Marriott Hill Country resort and spa. I have been lucky enough to stay here 2 or 3 times a year for the past few years and I am very comfortable when I visit. The staff are always super friendly.
The whole ride area to the front of the hotel was blocked off as they had relaid the surface but there were many staff on hand to help. They had a tent in case it was raining, they had carts to carry your bags up about 40 yards to the main entrance and there was always someone to help with any questions.
The lobby and entrance hall:
The grand lounge and bar just downstairs from the lobby and entrance are magnificent.
It is a large lounge area with a full bar, various corners and sections with comfortable seating, 4 large fireplaces, table games and more.
The bar with TV sets and seating. (it was not open this night) This is a wonderful place for an opening reception when you are having a conference in the hotel.
Magnificent fireplace.
Some pool tables and tv for viewing.
More table games and many photos showing the growth of the area.
Here is a wider shot of the lounge. On the right you can see the upstairs level where the entrance and the lobby are.
Just off from the lounge on the right is the High Velocity sports bar which has a magnificent video wall for watching your favorite sport with a local brew and some great food.
The golf courses:
This resort has 2 championship quality golf courses and from the 4th to 7th of April they host the PGA Tour for the TPC San Antonio on the Oaks Course.
Greg Norman, Sergio Garcia, Bruce Lietzke and Pete Dye were all involved in creating these 2 courses, great names in the history of the PGA.
The clubhouse entrance that faces the course.
A lovely clock you can see from all 4 sides and a halfway house.
This course has some very elegant features.
If the weather is bad or even if you are just looking to have a fun evening there is this golf simulator that can be played while you order drinks and food.
The Lantana Spa:
The Lantana Spa is away on the right from the lobby. You walk through the hotel and down a sloping corridor to reach the Spa which is a separate building.
I was not able to go in but this was the in hotel advertising. Spa, steam room, waxing, massage, body scrub, eye treatments, facials, fitness classes, etc.
The gym:
This is a large and busy hotel so it is fitting that it has a large and comprehensive gym available.
Almost every piece of exercise equipment you might need is provided.
The pool, and waterpark:
I was at the hotel in the heart of winter so there was not much going on at the waterpark. Parts of it were closed and dry and maintenance was being done so it will all be working well when spring comes along.
These views are from the in hotel advertising. You can see there are many pool areas as well as hundreds of deck chairs available.
There is a lazy river, a long water slide, a soaking bucket drop and more attractions you will enjoy at the water park.
Other random areas:
A waiting area upstairs in the lobby.
A display at the end of one of the halls.
A magnificent glass display at the top of the escalators leading down to the convention center.
In hotel stores:
There is an extensive store with sweets, drinks, clothes, jewelry, snacks and many other items
This is the professional golf store. It has the PGA Tour logo on the window and has all sorts of great golf stuff.
There is a full Fedex office available for all your mailing, parcel, delivery and business documentation.
A view from outside the hotel on the way to the golf course and water park.
Conclusion:
This is still my favorite resort and spa hotel to stay in. The facilities are plentiful and really good quality, the food is great and you can relax or be as busy as you want.
I always love staying here and I am sure you will too. A thoroughly good time will be enjoyed by all.
