Reader Poll – Reflecting on Life Before GoGo

I had the pleasure spending last night with a fun group of like-minded travelers. During the evening the topic of GoGo Inflight Wi-Fi came up. The end result – while the idea of disconnecting from it all sounds good in theory, reality is very different. It’s hard to imagine life without GoGo now.

While I’ve griped from time to time about slow speeds or spotty connections, overall, the service works fairly well. When you think about it, the idea of sending a Tweet while you’re rocketing along at 9 miles a minute is pretty darn cool. Frankly, if inflight internet went away, I’d miss it. Sometimes, there are only so many minutes in a day, and airplane time can now be productive time. And when I really want to disconnect, read a book, sleep, etc., I just do it. Long live GoGo and all other inflight internet providers!

How do you feel about the advent of inflight internet? Vote in my reader poll.

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

I just voted in the poll while connected to GoGo. For me, it’s half about being connected to work email and being more productive, and half about being connected to my family via iMessage. Overall, at this point I can’t imagine travel without it.

I can understand the occasional need for it, but if being out of touch for such a short length of time isn’t something you can handle regularly, it is time to either learn some basic time management techniques or become less narcissistic.
