Introduction

The Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is a 412 room luxury hotel located in the heart of Golden Triangle next to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, major shopping malls, and entertainment district.  Tripadvisor.com ranks this hotel as #3 in Kuala Lumpur and I can see why.  The hotel has the best city views out of any hotel I’ve ever visited with floor to ceiling windows in across the entire floor.  The rooms and property were large with beautiful high end furnishings with an excellent well trained staff.

The Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is a Hyatt Category 3 Hotel with a points redemption rate of 12,000 points or 6,000 points plus $75. For this booking I used the points plus cash rate, applied a suite upgrade certificate, and got a suite which usually goes for USD$511. Essentially, my 6,000 points saved over $425USD off the regular rate.

Check-in was on an upper floor with excellent views behind the check-in desk.  Staff behind the check-in desk was friendly, efficient, and even upgraded me to an even better room, the Grand Twin Towers View Suite for free due to having Globalist Status.

Location (5/5)

The hotel is located in the heart of the city, next to the Petronas Towers and KLC park.  Nearby there are plenty of malls, places to eat, and things to do.  The airport is about 60km away but uber is available and prices are cheap.

Property (5/5)

The property is large and can hold many guests, but thankfully the dining areas are also large and with plenty of staff members available to ensure guests are tended to efficiently. The pool area, lounges, and gym are specious.  Everywhere you go in this hotel has huge floor to ceiling windows to showcase the beautiful skyline of Kuala Lumpur

Room (5/5)

For such a large city, I was impressed by the size of the suite which was over 1,000sq ft.  The wood floors, marble tiles, and furniture was of high quality and floor to ceiling windows across the suite provided epic views.  If I was traveling with a bunch of friends, we could have had a party up there.

Living Room

By far, this room had the best view of any hotel room i’ve ever stayed at.  Truly impressive.

The bathroom had a large bowl shaped bathtub that could almost be considered a small pool.  It was cool to soak in the tub while looking out over the city skyline and Petronas Towers.

Service (5/5)

Service was stellar and staff was well trained, friendly, and accommodating.  I appreciated the fruit in the room upon arrival.

Food (5/5)

Kuala Lumpur has an awesome food scene so I was happy to see the Grand Hyatt take their food seriously as well.  The breakfast buffet was one of the largest most extensive i’ve ever seen with endless tables full of so many options of Asian food around the region.  There were so many food options I became perplexed on what I should choose to eat.  I should have fasted or ran 5 miles before breakfast so I could have stuffed my face with even more food.

Conclusion

In conclusion, considering the points redemption rate, this hotel is an amazing value and is likely the best value you can get in the entire Hyatt portfolio.  Certainly, the quality and luxury of this hotel is better than any Grand Hyatt I’ve been to and was even nicer than some Park Hyatt hotels I’ve stayed at.  With its great location, friendly staff, large rooms, and great good, the only hotel I’ll ever stay at in Kuala Lumpur will be the Grand Hyatt.
