As everyone gears up for shopping on Cyber Monday, brands will bombard us with a plethora of deals. However, there are plenty of deals that we consider as low hanging fruit. One such deal is available on Rakuten. You can get this deal to kickstart your Cyber Monday shopping spree by earning an easy $40 or 4,000 Membership Rewards points.

Just last week, I wrote about how one can maximize discounts and mileage earning by using shopping portals. Rakuten’s offer is unique in a way as it allows you to earn Membership Rewards points.

When you refer a friend, both you and your friend have to opportunity to earn $40 or 4,000 Membership Rewards points. Here’s how it works.

1. Sign-up for a Rakuten account by using a refer-a-friend link (Disclosure: This link is my referral link and I greatly appreciate your support for the blog)
2. Once your friend signs up using your link and spends $40, both you and your friend will receive the $40 or 4,000 Membership Rewards points bonus. You can choose how you earn your bonus. You can opt for cash back, PayPal or simply link your Membership Rewards points account
3. Repeat this as many time as you want. For example, if multiple members of your family are shopping online, simply refer each other in order to double or even triple dip the welcome bonus

Here’s how I used this deal. I already had a Rakuten account. I simply referred my wife, who then purchased gifts for friends last week. Within days, Rakuten posted the bonus to my account and her account as well.

 

 

Once you log into your account, you have three options. You can earn Membership Rewards points, transfer cash back balance to your PayPal account or ask Rakuten to send you a check.
