TAP Air Portugal commence flying twice daily from Dublin to Lisbon from 31 March 2019. They are also offering some extremely cheap deals for business class tickets to the USA and Canada once these flights commence.

The Portuguese airline serves Boston, New York and Miami in the USA as well as Toronto in Canada from Lisbon. You can now book some amazingly cheap transatlantic deals with the Star Alliance carrier.

Cheap Deals Across The Atlantic

Dublin to New York in business class return is €1,284, Boston and Miami are €1,323, and Toronto is €1,305. By comparison, Aer Lingus to New York and Toronto charge €1,886 return, while Boston and Miami are €1,988. This means TAP is one third cheaper.

Of course, going cheaper means you will need to stop over in Lisbon along the way, adding time to the journey. You could add a visit to Portugal before or after your trip as TAP allow you up to 5 days stopover on your ticket without increasing the fare.

Huge Savings Flying One Way In Business Class

One way travellers get even better cheap deals from TAP. Most airlines charge a premium for one way tickets, to the extent these can cost more than a return flight. This is something good PAs in corporations are well aware of, booking a return ticket to save cash, even if the executive will only use it one way.

TAP are pricing the one way sectors at half the return. As an example, one way from Dublin to Boston in business class costs €671.87. Aer Lingus on the other hand price like most other airlines do, with their one way business class ticket costing €2,685.56. As you can see it is actually more than buying a return ticket on the same sector.

Overall Thoughts

These are excellent deals for business class travel across the Atlantic out of Dublin. Members of Star Alliance frequent flyer programmes would be well advised to take advantage of them.

Flying TAP one way is also handy for frequent flyers. Those without too many points could use their points to go one way to or from the USA and then fly the other way cheaply using TAP. Far too often you might have enough miles for a one way trip, but can’t get back cheaply due to the airlines charging that one way premium.
