BACKGROUND: With Caesars Diamond Status, Diamond and Seven Stars members are entitled to two free show tickets once a month in Las Vegas. I achieved Caesars Diamond Status from: Hilton Diamond to Wyndham Diamond to Caesars Rewards Diamond! FREE SHOW BENEFIT: There are plenty of shows to choose from, and at the rewards desk they have a nice handy list for you to see all the options. When I was in Vegas last May, I wanted to see WOW The Vegas Spectacular (like Cirque du Soleil, but smaller scale) but it was sold out for Memorial Day weekend. So I ended up seeing Penn...Read More
Background: The Oneworld Los Angeles Business Lounge is located airside in the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT). After security, once you’re in the atrium with shops, you’ll find an escalator to the right which will take you to the fifth floor. Turn to the right at the top of the escalator where the PF Changs is located and and you’ll be directly at the lounge entrance. Access: The lounge is open from 6:30am to 11:30pm daily. I was granted access with my Business Class ticket to Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific, making this post a little over a year...Read More
Background: I flew on New Years Day last year from Taipei to Los Angeles, as I found a good fare on Taiwan based China Airlines from Sydney to Taipei to Los Angeles including a 3 night stopover in Taipei for $830. I was excited as I got to try Premium Economy on both the A350 and 777. A few days ago, I reviewed the Premium Economy on the A350. In short, the product on the A350 is much better in my opinion. Flight Details: China Airlines Flight 8 Taipei (TPE) to Los Angeles (LAX) Scheduled Duration: 11 hours and...Read More
Background: I visited the Plaza Premium Lounge Taipei Airport in Terminal 2 before my flight back to Los Angeles. After clearing security, the lounge is one floor above the departures level. Just follow the signs upstairs to “VIP Lounge”. There is two Plaza Premium lounges at Teminal 2, and I first went to the smaller one that is called “Zone A1” in the center of the floor. Once I got there, I knew it was the wrong one based on the pictures I saw before and then asked where the “larger” one was (called “Zone A”), and they directed...Read More
Background: The Korean Airlines Lounge LAX is located on the fifth floor of the Tom Bradley International Terminal after security. Passing the oneworld Business Class lounge, the KAL Lounge is down the hallway across from the Qantas First Lounge. I used my Priority Pass card for access. With my AMEX Hilton Aspire, I get lounge access for myself and two guests. For Priority Pass members, the hours are a bit limited, from 1:00 pm and to 7:00 pm Note: you just have to enter by then, I entered at 6:30 pm and stayed til 8 pm on one visit....Read More
Background: I needed to get home from Australia around New Years Day last year (this post is a year overdue), and as you may already know, one way international tickets can be quite pricey. Luckily, I found a nice Premium Economy fare on Taiwan based, China Airlines from Sydney to Taipei to Los Angeles including a 3 night stopover in Taipei for $830. Flight Details: China Airlines Flight 56 Sydney (SYD) to Taipei (TPE) Duration: 9 hours and 20 minutes Aircraft: Airbus A350 Cabin: Premium Economy Seat: 33D (Aisle) The Flight: Upon boarding, I was delighted to see the...Read More
Starlux Airlines is the brand new upscale Taipei-based airline that is launching operations later this month. About 2 weeks ago, they published their full website and frequent flyer program. The cool thing was that they offered a status match to their frequent flyer program called COSMILE. To enroll: They weren’t very specific with which frequent flyer programs would be matched, only stating that you have to fill in the COSMILE OAL Member Card Tier Match Application Form and attach the other airline’s valid member card copy and other airline’s flight record in recent year, then email to STARLUX Customer...Read More
Background: Merry Christmas everyone! This post is long overdue, one full year late. Last year, I booked a Virgin Australia flight to connect from Auckland to Sydney on Christmas Eve. I was excited to try Virgin Australia as I have flown on Virgin Atlantic and Virgin America. Check-In: The line at Auckland Airport to check bags for Virgin Australia was really long. Thankfully, with my Delta Silver Medallion status, I got priority lane access and so it only took about 5 minutes. I heard people in the normal lane complaining about waiting over 30 minutes. After check in and...Read More
Background: This was the second leg of my Australia + Asia Winter Break and New Year’s Trip last year. Surprisingly, I found business award space for the peak winter season on Cathay Pacific for my parents and I, and ended up using 60,000 Alaska Mileage Plan miles for LAX-HKG-AKL, which included a two night stopover in Hong Kong. I reviewed my experience on the Cathay Pacific 777 previously and enjoyed it a lot. So, I was really excited to be flying on the newer A350 product. But, I was actually left dissapointed with the new A350, and actually prefered...Read More
BACKGROUND: After visiting the Wing Lounge, I decided to check out the Pier before my Cathay Pacific flight to Auckland in business on the A350. For Cathay Pacific there’s a total of 4 business class lounges at Hong Kong Airport, that being The Wing, The Pier, The Bridge and The Deck. I’m glad I decided to stop by at the Pier because it was my favorite of the two I visited. The Pier Business Class Lounge is located in Terminal 1 near gate 65. It’s open from 5:30 am to 12:30 am daily. How to Gain Access: 1) Travel...Read More
