Benvenuti: Kuwait Airways Adds Milan Malpensa Flights

Kuwait Airways A330

The Persian Gulf is home to some of the world’s most aggressively expanding airlines. Saudia, Emirates, Etihad and Qatar are all located in this region, and are known throughout the world. However, the region is home to smaller airlines, such as Oman Air, Gulf Air and Kuwait Airways. These airlines are also expanding, but at a slower pace than their bigger neighbors.

Kuwait Airways has been slowly retrofitting its fleet, from very old A340s, 777-200s and A320s, to newer A330s and their flagship 777-300ER. The airline has introduced a new cabin both aircraft. The 777-300ER offers one of the most intriguing First Class cabins, in my opinion. With the fleet renewal, the airline has been expanding, and they recently announced a new destination.

Kuwait Airways Adds Milan

Their newest destination, per @airlineroute, is Milan Malpensa. They will fly the route starting on October 29, 2018. Kuwait Airways will fly their A330-200 three times a week to the Italian city. The A330 is configured in a three cabin layout, with 17 First Class Seats, 30 Business Class seats, and 212 Economy seats.

What to Expect

In First Class, passengers can expect a fully flat reverse herringbone seat arranged in a 1×21 configuration. For Business class passengers, you can expect angled flat seats in a 2x2x2 configuration. Economy class is set up 2x4x2 as most A330s. The airline offers competitive prices on most of its routes, since it cannot command the same premium its Gulf counterparts can. I have been eyeing to fly them from Colombo to New York JFK in First Class. They also offer reasonable fares in business class.

Landing Thoughts:

Although I am a big fan of the Middle East Big 3, I am also happy to see the smaller regional carriers be able to expand to new destinations. Kuwait Airways is a niche carrier among the Middle Eastern carriers. As they retire their old aircraft, the airline is ushering in a new livery, corporate image and onboard product. Hopefully the airline will be able to gain international attention, and their onboard product will match the improved aircraft.

What do you think? Have you flown Kuwait Airways? What was your experience like? Would you fly them to Milan? Let us know!
