In the past, I’ve written about how shopping portals can serve as an excellent way to add to your miles and points balance. One such deal popped up and I thought that this one could be great to share with readers.

Deal: Amex Offer + Shopping Portal offers

I initially found this deal when I logged into my Amex account looking for interesting Amex Offers. With this offer, you’ll get $50 off a Motley Fool stock picker subscription. For the first month, you can try it out for $99 and cancel if it doesn’t work for you. If you cancel, you’ll still get the $50 credit and spend $49 out of pocket.

Even if you Motley Fool isn’t what you’re looking for, this could be an easy way to earn some quick miles or points

Shopping Portal Offers

I then headed over to evreward.com to check if there were any lucrative shopping portal offers and boy I was pleasantly surprised.

Chase Freedom and AA have the best bonuses currently

If you prefer AA miles, you can opt for AA or go for the Alaska and United offers, which are slightly lower at 5,000 miles. Overall, this offer seems to be a pretty easy way to rack up some miles and points for a few minutes of work. Bear in mind that the Motley Fool subscription renews automatically. Therefore, I’d recommend that you set a reminder to cancel the subscription before your next month is billed.

The Pundit’s Mantra

Also, shopping portal bonuses can serve as a way to keep your mileage accounts active. Let’s say you have Alaska miles expiring soon. In that case, you can simply shop via the Alaska MileagePlan portal to earn those 5,000 miles and reset your mileage expiration date.

If you end up going for the AA miles bonus, you will essentially end up buying 6,500 AA miles for $49, which works out to just 0.75 cents per mile.

Which shopping portal bonus do you plan to go for? Let us know in the comments section.

  1. Do you think it matters that the amex offer says to use fool.com/amex link? And the portals would use a different link?

      1. How do you get the shopping portal link to charge you >$99? Only options I see are $79-89 or a ~$400 “bundle” of products.

  2. Theres a major catch here…. the Chase portal brings you to an offer with annual fee of $89, but the Amex Offer requires a $99 charge. I can’t see any add-ons to bring the fee above $99 while still earning the Chase bonus.

    1. Also Motley Fool is terrible about denying the points if you use a credit. I did this a few years ago and they refused the points because I used an Amex offer. At the time it was estimated that if you used an Amex card to pay, they assumed you had the offer and denied your points.
