A few weeks back, I wrote about how Amex has now added a new benefit to the Business Platinum card. Now, it seems like we may see a change to the consumer version of the Amex Platinum card as well.

[Rumor] American Express Planning Amex Platinum Refresh – Card With ‘Mirror Finish’

As per Doctor of Credit’s source, it seems like Amex Platinum (consumer version) may be due for an upgrade. While the rumor only talks about changes to the design of the card, I won’t be surprised if we see changes being made to benefits. What I detest but won’t be surprised to see is if the annual fee is increased as well.

What’s Next for American Express Business Platinum Benefits?

Miles to Memories speculates about the upcoming changes to the Business Platinum card. I kinda agree with the analysis here. I find very little use of the Dell credit. The ‘new’ Hilton credit is meh. I’m not sure about the other benefits. In my case, I find it prudent to just hold on to my Schwab Platinum card instead of the Business Platinum card. I find the Fine Hotels and Resorts credit quite useful. Moreover, I love Centurion lounge access and complimentary Hilton Honors Gold status. Also, each year, I find it pretty easy to use the airline fee credit benefit.

Thinking of buying or holding British Airways Avios? Be very, very careful.

This is an interesting post by Traveling for Miles. While it’s great to accumulate a lot of miles, it’s wise to spend them instead of hoarding them for long periods of time. Airlines and hotels can devalue their currencies and very short or no notice sometimes. If you’re accumulating without any specific goals, then you may be left holding the bag.

Having said that, there a bit of extra jeopardy around British Airways Avios right now and it’s worth keeping this in mind in case you’re tempted to top up your account with a view to using any Avios you buy for a future British Airways booking.

World Of Hyatt Brand Explorer: Free Nights For Trying Different Brands

This is a handy guide by One Miles at a Time. As someone who stays frequently at Hyatt properties, I find the Brand Explorer feature to be pretty cool. If you haven’t checked it out, it’s something worth looking at. Hyatt now has 32 brands. You can earn up to 6 free night certificates. That’s an amazing feature for Hyatt, given that its footprint is smaller compared to the likes of Marriott & Hilton.
