My previous post Laser Pointers and Aircraft Don’t Mix! has easily become my most “re-pinned” post from my @travelblawg Pinterest page. Every bit helps in spreading the word about how REALLY dangerous they can be to putting the crew and passengers of planes and helicopters at risk.
I continue to see news reports about incidents (a lot!) and press releases about the dangers of pointing a laser at aircraft. But this news report out of Palm Beach regarding a green laser pointed at a JetBlue plane while landing Monday night at Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) seems to have a twist. And it’s a twist I’m still not quite sold on.
Watch the article’s video here.
- Was this guy “just out back playing with his dog” when the laser light “must have gone over the fence” and into the JetBlue pilots’ eyes?
- Is there some underlying guilt or remorse at play here? Fearing being identified, would someone proactively come forward to claim accidental or incidental results with a
dog toylaser? - Maybe his dog-and-laser show has nothing to do with the Monday night incident?
I’m curious what your thoughts are?
Ever encountered such illegal use of a laser pointer yourself?

I call BS. Unless he was trying to get his dog to jump over the fence, the laser shouldn’t have been pointing up. Seems like he’s just trying to cover his tracks.
